Hariraj Devi (1935-1987)

Hariraj Devi was born and brought up at Sherpur of Saran District in Bihar. Her

parents were very simple and kind hearted. From the childhood, she was very kind and soft hearted girl. She was only thirteen when she was married to Sri Lal Bahadur Singh in on 20th of May 1944. Though she was not much educated yet she encouraged the children to get higher knowledge. In her view without education child cannot be noble, gentle and established in the society.

After marriage, she had to migrate with her husband to Somarhatti of Jalpaiguri in West Bengal. Again in 1952 she shifted to Kolkata with her family. Finally they migrated to Mogra of Hooghly District in 1956 and settled there permanently.

She felt pity for the slum dwellers living nearby. She wanted to serve them. She then got the support of her husband and started her mission. She was one of the kindest mother of the world. She always used to advise the people to be honest and not to achieve anything by means of fraudulent activities. The great soul passes away in on 13th of May, 1987, There are some people among the vast population of the world whose names are known for their service and love to the humanity. Hariraj Devi is one of them.
